Algonquin is a provincial park located between Georgian Bay and the Ottawa River in Ontario, Canada. The Park is considered the “border” between Northern Ontario and Southern Ontario. It is an area of transition between northern coniferous forest and southern deciduous forest and supports an uncommon diversity of plant and animal species. Much in the same way as Somerset Getaways. It was a favorite camping/canoeing destination for our father, Volker Winkler, who would even bring his wetsuit to swim in the frigid waters. Its breathtaking beauty can only be dampened if you fall victim to the allure of portaging. As you unwind with the screen door open you can imagine laying in your canoe and drifting peacefully down one of the many rivers and lakes in the park as you are serenaded by the birds indulging in the bamboo fortress outside your balcony door.
